Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Leila Fazleyeva noted the importance of foreign representatives taking part.
« Tatarstan is a place where cultures merge: East and West, Islam and Christianity in Russia. Therefore, the personal participation of [Islamic World Organisation for Education, Science, and Culture (OCESO) Director General] Mr Al-Malik Salim bin Mohammed is a milestone for us, for the development of further cultural exchange and integration, » said Fazleyeva.
For his part, Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan Rinat Sadykov noted that the number of applications from those wishing to participate was up on the previous year.
The press service of the regional government stated that the main agenda of the summit will be the role of traditional values in the upbringing of children and youth in the modern world.
The forum will also include round tables and discussion platforms, an exhibition of achievements in youth programmes by Russia, Tatarstan and the international partners, a foresight session on changes in the youth community, and visits to youth centres and sports facilities.
The Global Youth Summit, held for the second year in a row, takes place in the capital of Tatarstan from August 28-30. Last year, Kazan was awarded the title ‘Youth Capital of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation 2022’.
