« Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held talks in Moscow on Thursday, to discuss the issues to be addressed at an upcoming meeting between their two leaders, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Lavrov congratulated Fidan on his recent appointment and suggested discussing both international and regional issues.
« Without question, besides our bilateral agenda, we have an intensive dialogue and pragmatic co-operation on regional and international affairs. All of this calls for regular synchronisation, so I am convinced that today’s meeting will be very productive and it will allow us to present solid recommendations for our leaders’ consideration, » Lavrov said.
In turn, Fidan emphasised that during the meeting they would discuss the potential resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, as well as the situation in Syria and the South Caucasus.
On August 2, the Kremlin press service reported that at the conclusion of a telephone conversation between Putin and Erdogan ‘it was agreed to continue contacts at various levels, including in the context of preparations for a possible meeting between the two leaders’. »
