« Footage shows the aftermath of the shelling in Donetsk’s Kirovsky district on Thursday.
Six civilians sustained shrapnel wounds in the attack, as reported by acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin.
« Today the AFU targeted Donetsk, Gorlovka, and the Volnovakha district from large-caliber tube, rocket and missile artillery using incendiary and cluster munitions. As a result, 10 civilians were wounded: six in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk and four in the Volnovakha district, » the region’s acting head said in his official Telegram channel.
In turn, Mayor Alexei Kulemzin said that, according to preliminary data, one person was killed following the incident.
Local resident Marina said that everybody who was in the alley when the shelling started was wounded.
« There was a boy and a girl lying there, the girl was wounded in the head – her name is Masha, the boy[‘s name is] Roma, [he was wounded] somewhere in his legs, he was just covered with a blanket. People started to save [him]called an ambulance, everyone came over. The boy was screaming a lot: ‘Give me a jab’. The ambulances came and started to take them away. Further down there, there was a guy, he got hit in his head and hip. Three ambulances [came]. There was a guy sitting here, I think he got hit in his back. In the leg and in the back, » she added.
According to the woman, barns in the alley caught fire.
« [It was] really scary, [we] didn’t know where to run, where to hide, what to do, and who to save -children or adults, or who. It was very, very scary, it’s beyond words, » said Marina.
At the time of publication, the Ukrainian authorities had not commented on the claims about the shelling of the Kirovsky district of Donetsk.
On September 30, 2022, President Vladimir Putin agreed to sign documents allowing the accession of the DPR and Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), as well as the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, to the Russian Federation.
According to Moscow, it followed referenda in which people living in those areas exercised their right to self-determination and requested to join Russia.
Ukraine and its international allies condemned the move, calling it an annexation of Kiev’s sovereign territory. »
