« Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of this year’s China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) on Saturday in Beijing and declared that the world’s economy is prosperous « when it is open, but it will decline if it is closed ».
« Let us jointly safeguard the hard-won free trade and multilateral trading system, share the historical opportunities for the development of global trade in services, and work together to create a better and more prosperous future for the world, » he stated.
During his speech, the president announced a series of measures that are due to be implemented by his government, including the relaxation of market access to the service industry and the building of a national trading market for voluntary reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which would support the service industry in playing a greater role in green development.
« We will share the fruits of Chinese-style modernisation. Focus on expanding domestic demand, speed up the construction of a strong domestic market, take the initiative to expand the import of high-quality services, encourage the expansion of the export of knowledge-intensive services, and take advantage of China’s big market opportunities to provide new driving forces for the world’s development, » the president affirmed.
As 2023 marks the 45th anniversary of China’s reform and its opening to the international market, Xi said that his government will persist in promoting a ‘high level of opening up’ to the world and provide new cooperation among all countries.
The 2023 CIFTIS will be held in Beijing, starting this Saturday and ending on September 6. One of the world’s largest and most comprehensive fairs for trade in services is held in the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park. »
