Rail communications interrupted in Dhaka as workers set up blockade over working conditions

« Rail communications were interrupted on Sunday in Dhaka due to a blockade on the rail tracks by hundreds of Bangladesh Railway workers.
Demonstrators blocked the rail tracks halting train communication between the capital and the rest of the country, to demand their temporary jobs to be made permanent.
Police arrested some protesters when attempting to clear up the real tracks.
“We have been working in Bangladesh Railway for 13-14 years but our job is not permanent yet. Now the railway authorities are saying that our jobs will not be made permanent,” said Shafiul Islam, a railway gate keeper.
The blockade was reportedly withdrawn after 5 hours, according to Kamalapur Railway Police Station. »
