« The crew of a Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopter were seen performing combat missions in the Seversk direction of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), close to the Russia-Ukraine conflict zone.
Footage taken on Wednesday shows the helicopter preparing for take off and firing at targets.
« Columns [of military equipment] move almost every day, and information is transmitted, the only thing that varies is the quantity, » explained one crew member, known by his call sign ‘Britva’. « If we do a skilful job then in general it’s 80 percent [likelihood that all assigned targets will be destroyed]. »
The pilot added that there can be complications when enemy equipment is hidden in the forested areas, making it more difficult to detect.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported in its daily morning briefing on Thursday that in the Seversk and Slobozhansk directions, Russian forces launched air strikes on the districts of Volfino in the Sumy region and Potikhonovo in the Kharkov region.
The LPR is one of four regions, also including the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Kherson and Zaporozhye, that President Vladimir Putin agreed to allow to join the Russian Federation, signing accession documents in September 2022.
According to Moscow, it followed referenda in which people living in those areas exercised their right to self-determination and requested to join Russia.
Ukraine and its international allies condemned the move, calling it an annexation of Kiev’s sovereign territory. »
