« James Webb, an Australian contestant in this year’s USA Chicken Wing Eating Championship, broke the competition’s record on Sunday in New York City, claiming his first championship belt in his first ever participation in the contest.
Footage shows the event participants eating the wings as fast as they can in the event’s first contest, while other contestants tried to remove chicken wings from giant bowls with blue cheese sauce using their mouths for the second part of the challenge.
« I’m good, happy, and shocked on everything, » said Webb after winning the contest.
The Australian reportedly ate 276 chicken wings in 12 minutes, an average of 23 wings per minute.
The festival is held annually on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. »
