« Spanish Defender Sergio Ramos shared a video message on Monday explaining the reasons for returning to his boyhood club Sevilla, after being closely linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
« I am finally coming home and I am looking forward to that moment when I feel the Sevilla shirt again and put this shield on my chest again. It’s been 18 years since I left, » started Ramos.
« I believe that it was not only a debt that I had with myself but also with my family with my grandfather who made me a Sevilla supporter since I was little with my father. From now on I think it didn’t make any sense to take another direction that was not passing by my house, » he continued.
The Spanish player apologized to his fans at Sevilla for his goal celebrations while playing for Real Madrid against Sevilla.
« I would like to take this opportunity to apologize personally and ask for forgiveness from any Sevilla fan who was offended by things and gestures I may have done at the time, » he said.
The 37-year-old Ramos has signed a one-year contract with PSG after his previous deal expired.
Ramos was born just a few kilometres from Sevilla. He joined the club’s academy at the age of seven and stayed until he was 19 when he left to join Real Madrid. »
