« Thousands of Sevilla FC fans witnessed on Wednesday night the return of Spanish football legend Sergio Ramos to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, 18 years after his departure from the club.
Footage shows the defender posing for pictures and kicking footballs to fans during his official presentation at the club’s stadium, as well as his press conference to be unveiled as Sevilla’s new member of its squad.
« For me, it is an unforgettable day. It is a dream come true, as I am returning home after 18 years. It’s a dream come true, » Ramos said.
The FIFA World Cup 2010 winner revealed that he had several offers to go to places ‘far away’, but he decided to choose Sevilla FC, as, according to him, at the Andalusian club he could enjoy things that no other contract or team could offer.
« Since I arrived, I have noticed the affection of the fans, and I want to thank them in the first person, » he stated.
Ramos also mentioned during the press conference the controversy involving Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales and Spanish women’s national football team player Jenni Hermoso and mentioned that Rubiales had ‘unacceptable behavior’ towards Hermoso.
« I hope that the world of football has the representatives it really deserves, » he affirmed.
According to local media reports, over 22,000 fans were present at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan during Ramos’ official presentation.
Crowned as a Spanish national team and Real Madrid legend, the defender returns to Sevilla FC after two seasons defending the colors of Paris Saint-Germain and 16 for the Spanish club, where he won four UEFA Champions League trophies, played 671 matches, and scored 101 goals. »
