« Former Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheimbaum was elected the Morena Party’s candidate for the country’s 2024 presidential election during an event organised by the group on Wednesday night in Mexico City.

Alfonso Durazo, President of the National Council of the Morena Party, explained during the event that the former mayor of Mexico City was elected following the results of five surveys conducted nationwide.
According to local media reports, former Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, who came in second in Morena’s polls, complained about potential irregularities in the process and said that it should be redone.
