« China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mao Ning, emphasised that « There is no room for any external interference » in solving Taiwan’s issue, and therefore, « China’s internal affair », during a briefing in Beijing on Friday.
« It is very dangerous for the United States to hype the Taiwan issue on various occasions, create tension, incite confrontation, and attempt to promote the internationalization of the Taiwan issue. The most effective way to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is to abide by the one-China principle and take a clear-cut opposition attitude, » she said.
During the press conference, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson also stressed that « China has always attached great importance to the G20 and actively participated in relevant activities. »
« We are willing to work with all parties to promote the positive results of the New Delhi summit in accordance with the principle of consensus, » she added.
Mao Ning also conveyed Beijing’s belief that the G20 should prioritise its responsibilities by enhancing macroeconomic policy coordination and fostering global economic development.
The spokesperson also announced that Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing will visit Russia to participate in the Oriental Economic Forum and hold meetings with key Russian leaders.
« Through this visit, China looks forward to working with Russia to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation between China and Russia in the Northeast and Far East, and jointly promote the development of the region, » Mao Ning concluded. »
