« Tennis fans flocked to Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York to watch the US Open women’s singles final featuring American Coco Gauff and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday.
Gauff, a 19-year-old, secured her first Grand Slam title by defeating Sabalenka in the US Open women’s final.
« We had a few Americans, more than we normally have in the tournament and deep into the tournament, and on the men’s side too so we have a new crop of American players,” said Adele, a fan.
« Now that like women can do the same things that men can do if not more, women are athletic, women are strong just like men, women really could do anything, so I think overall I do think that more people are realizing that women’s sport is important, I can’t wait to see how it is next year though,” said Another fan, Shaneya.
Gauff, seeded sixth, made history by becoming the first American to win a US Open singles title since Sloane Stephens in 2017 with this victory. »
