US defence chiefs attend 22nd anniversary of 9/11 attacks on Pentagon

« US defence chiefs attended the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, at a service at the site in Virginia on Monday.
Footage shows Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army General Mark Milley paying their respects as a huge US flag was unfurled on the side of the building.
Commemorations are also taking place at other locations. US President Joe Biden is scheduled to attend a ceremony at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
On 11 September 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed when two hijacked commercial airliners crashed into the Twin Towers in New York and one into the Pentagon headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. A fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania when passengers attempted to fight back. »
