« Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said he hopes for Iraq ‘to be a source of stability in the regional and global spheres’ during his speech at the UN General Assembly held in New York on Friday .

We want Iraq to foster understanding and cooperation. We endeavour to establish constructive and cooperative relations based on mutual respect and by stimulating and encouraging the various parties. We want to pursue policies that will allow for sustainable development for our peace-loving people », the Prime Minister said.
Commenting on other regional issues, al-Sudani noted that his government holds ‘a firm position on the rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital’.
The General Debate at the 78th session hears from around 140 world leaders on a range of global and regional issues, including Ukraine, climate change, political upheaval in West Africa, economic instability, and several recent natural disasters. »
