« Tropical storm Ophelia swept through Wilmington in North Carolina on Saturday bringing winds and floods to the US state.
Footage shows the aftermath of the disaster hit with fallen tree branches and mud on the streets of the residential area.
The storm touched land near the Emerald Isle with near hurricane force winds of 70 mph (113 km/h).
The winds weakened as Ophelia moved north, with the centre of the storm crossing Virginia on Saturday evening local time, according to the US National Hurricane Center.
The governors of North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland each declared states of emergency on Friday as thousands were left without power following the passing of the storm. »
