« The body of mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro was taken away from the prisons’s hospital in L’Aquila, on Monday, after he died due to colon cancer at the age of 61.
Footage shows the transportation of Dessina’s body by helicopter with the presence of police, journalists and medics.
On January 26, 2023, Denaro was arrested at a hospital in Sicily’s capital Palermo after hiding from the authorities for 30 years.
Nicknamed ‘U Siccu’ (English: The Skinny One), the kingpin was sentenced to around 20 prison terms in trials held in his absence for his role in a series of mob crimes, including the bomb attacks that killed anti-mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in 1992. »
