« ‘Many good defence and other decisions’ – Zelensky on outcome of visit to US, Canada
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in a video message on Sunday evening about the outcomes of his visit to the United States and Canada, where he met President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justrin Trudeau, noting that ‘there are many good defence and other decisions’ and ‘defence packages’.
« From the United States – including artillery, necessary shells, HIMARS munitions, air defence missiles, additional air defence systems, tactical vehicles and some other types of weapons that will prove themselves on the battlefield and from Canada, we have a decision on long-term defence support worth half a billion U.S. dollars », the president noted.
The President of Ukraine also noted that ‘there is a historic decision by the United States to jointly produce weapons and defence systems. In particular, air defence’.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made his second visit to the United States from 18 to 22 September after the start of the war against Russia. Zelensky and Biden held talks at the White House on 21 September, during which the US president announced a new 325-million-US dollar (305 million euro) military aid package for Ukraine.
Regarding the Canadian response, Trudeau’s government announced a new 650 million-Canadian dollar military aid package (452 million euro) for Ukraine.
Zelensky started his tour in North America with a speech at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, during which he addressed the Security Council on 20 September. »
