« Scenes of flooding were seen in Istanbul province after heavy rain hit the area on Thursday.
Footage shows submerged streets, cars being driven with difficulty or picked up by cranes, sewers overflowing, as rescue teams and citizens tried to retrieve their belongings, while some buildings were flooded.
« Heavy rains are expected to continue in Istanbul until tomorrow morning. Beware of floods, lightning and flash floods », the Turkish Disaster Management Authority (AFAD) in a text message to citizens’ phones warned.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gul said heavy rainfall in the city is expected to continue until tomorrow and warned of a quick and immediate evacuation of places where there is a risk of flooding. The country’s meterological service projected more rain to come. »
