« Thousands of FC Union Berlin supporters flocked to the iconic Olympiastadion in Berlin on Tuesday as the club hosted its first UEFA Champions League match against Portuguese side SC Braga.
Footage shows crowds of fans draped in red and white outside the stadium and waiting in line to enter ahead of the match.
« We are excited, absolutely charged emotionally, and we are 100 per cent excited, » said Union fan Emil.
“The best thing is that we as fans want to see a nice game. We want to be part of that, and after the game, it is rather secondary; no matter if it’s victory or defeat, we still celebrate with our club because we belong to it and the club belongs to us, and that is it, » added a second fan named Frank.
At least 74,000 people are reported to have attended the Champions League match in the Olympiastadion, which saw the Portuguese side defeat the home team 3-2. »
