« Former president of Bolivia Evo Morales addressed his supporters during the congress of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) as it began on Tuesday in Mercado Lauca N.
Thousands of attendees from different social organisations gathered to participate in the meeting of the political and union stronghold of former president Evo Morales.
“95 percent of the countries of the world have left-wing parties, but those who organise those left-wing parties are a group of professionals, a group of lawyers, political scientists… This is the party of the poor, it is the party of the humble people,” said Evo Morales.
The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, the Unity Pact and several other organisations decided not to participate for considering that social organisations were not adequately represented.
The MAS congress will last until October 5. The recent announcement by Morales that he will be a candidate in 2025 has created internal tensions in the ruling party. »
