« The co-leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Chrupalla, was hospitalised after suffering an alleged attack on Wednesday before he was due to speak at a campaign event in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt, ahead of Sunday’s state elections in Bavaria.
Footage filmed on Thursday shows the general view of Ingolstadt’s hospital, as well as the Theaterplatz, the site where Chrupalla was supposed to speak.
48-year-old Chrupalla was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain in the arm before the event. The AfD’s national office said that Chrupalla was injured in a ‘violent incident’ at a campaign rally.
However, local media reported that Police stated no obvious injuries were apparent, and that it was unclear whether the Chrupalla had been attacked ot if he had simply felt unwell. Authorities have launched an investigation into the alleged assault. »
