According to Mayor Oscar Leeser, as many as 2,000 people require shelter each night. The number of migrants trying to reach the US has increased significantly in recent months all along the southern border.
Last Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed there was ‘an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries’.
While President Joe Biden stated that he didn’t believe border walls work – as proposed by his predecessor Donald Trump – the current administration has said it will waive 26 laws to build additional barriers. »
