A few local residents in Athens gave their opinions on Friday concerning the proposed cap on wholesale electricity prices aimed at relieving consumers and business from increasing energy prices. « What we have to do is to rise up in order to demand for the increases to be taken back, and to increase our salaries. » a local named Vangelio Dermizaki said. « The situation has reached the point of no return for all the people. I am working all day out in the streets and for this I hear what the people say. » said street worker Nicolaos. The proposed cap will begin in July and last for a year. It will mainly consist of 60% refunds on all electricity surcharges paid by consumers from last December untill May of this year. Electricity producing companies will also be asked to pay a solidarity dividend to help fund the scheme
