T-80BVM tank crews of the Western Military District (WMD) were seen carrying out combat missions on the Kupyansk front.
Footage released by the Russian Ministry of Defence on Sunday shows tank crews conducting redeployment and then targeting Ukrainian forces from covered firing positions.
According to the ministry, the tanks were providing ‘fire support to motorised rifle units, ensuring the advance of Russian troops’.
A senior tank operator with the call sign ‘Starmekh’ said that the combat vehicle is easy to drive and has the advantage of a quiet engine.
« Let’s say, you can’t hear this engine when the vehicle is coming at you, you can only hear it from behind, » he added.
The serviceman also noted that he feels ‘safe’ while carrying out missions, as ‘the vehicle is very reliable and solid’.
The AFU daily morning report for August 27 claimed that in the Kupyansk direction, ‘the settlements of Dvuhletnaya, Sinkovka, Ivanovka, Kislovka, and Topoli in Kharkov region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling’.
On September 30, 2022, President Vladimir Putin agreed to sign documents allowing the accession of the DPR and Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), as well as the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, to the Russian Federation.
According to Moscow, it followed referenda in which people living in those areas exercised their right to self-determination and requested to join Russia.
Ukraine and its international allies condemned the move, calling it an annexation of Kiev’s sovereign territory.
