The iconic giant panda Tian Tian celebrated its 26th birthday at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI) in Washington with a multi-tiered cake on Sunday.
Footage shows the animal eating a special cake made by the zoo workers.
The dessert was reportedly made of frozen diluted apples, pineapple juices, sweet potatoes, and carrots, among other ingredients.
According to local media reports, this was Tian Tian’s last birthday celebrated in the American zoo, as the animal, along with two other pandas, is set to leave the facilities in December.
Tian Tian is set to return to China after spending over 20 years in the United States through an agreement between the Washington zoo and China Wildlife and Conservation Association. Farewell celebrations will reportedly take place from Sept. 23 to Oct. 1.
