« Troops, military vehicles, tanks and artillery were deployed in Yakhini, on the Gaza border, as Israel stepped up its military reinforcements
The footage filmed on Tuesday features IDF soldiers, tanks, ammunition and artillery at the border.
Reports indicate that there are now 35 reinforcement battalions stationed at the border awaiting orders, as the escalation of tensions in the region enters its fourth day,
According to local media reports, IDF spokesman Richard Hecht has stated that Israel is actively building infrastructure for future operations in the area.
The reinforcement comes in the wake of a surprise attack by Hamas on Israel on Saturday, October 7, during which thousands of rockets were fired into Israeli territory as part of what Hamas referred to as ‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.’
Israel responded with airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and issued a formal declaration of war on Hamas, warning residents in Gaza to leave their homes.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant ordered a full lockdown on Gaza, with electricity, fuel, water and food cut off to the area.
Hamas said the operation was due to the long-running Israeli blockade, raids on West Bank cities and other attacks, while Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed ‘mighty vengeance’ on the group.
Figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry confirm that the death toll from retaliatory strikes by the IDF in Gaza has climbed to 770 killed, with 4,000 injured. The Israeli military said that at least 900 Israelis were killed and 2,616 injured over the course of the conflict.
According to the UN, over 120,000 Palestinians have been displaced during the current fighting. »
